Review: Protecting Summer

Protecting Summer Protecting Summer by Susan Stoker
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Susan Stoker has created another Seal novel that sweeps you off your feet. "Protecting Summer" starts off with Mozart heading out to look for the man that killed his little sister and checks in to a crappy motel where Summer is working cleaning the lodges. She catches his eye when she stand up for him when 3 women insult him after seeing his scar on his face. He notices she's pretty but in need of a good meal. He finds himself really enjoying her company over dinner and wants to talk more to her than bed her and leave; very unlike his other conquests of f-them and leave them. Instead of indulging in meaningless sex, he walks away knowing that he's going a mission and promises to be back. Unfortunately like some men he ignores his feelings and doesn't return for 2 months. After his team push him to go back he's appalled at her situation and moves to remedy it, and again he heads out on a mission. Summer gets kidnapped while he's gone and the whole team head out to save her!

Some may find it hard to believe that Mozart might deny his feelings for a few months before returning, but a lot of men don't know how to deal with those kid of emotions especially when they have always treated women as "holes" for their enjoyment. I didn't find Summer weak, but independent and not listening to her own intuition on many subjects but in the end proved her strength when it counted. I love this series very much and can't wait to read "Protecting Cheyenne".
