Review: The Standout: A Robin Bricker Novel

The Standout: A Robin Bricker Novel The Standout: A Robin Bricker Novel by Laurel Osterkamp
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

"The Standout" by Laurel Osterkamp is an exciting page turner! Once I got into the book I didn't want to stop reading it! Robin is a former reality TV contestant who gets called in to fill an empty slot on another show that features fashion designers. The day after she accepts the invite she receives a menacing letter, things escalate to text messages and threats but her fiance' convinces her to go ahead and do the show. Things get worse during the filming of the show and sabotage seems to be coming from all directions. The cast of characters are so real and flawed that you can imagine that they are people you know. The conclusion to this was so very unexpected and made me love this story even more!

"The Standout" is like doing a mash-up of "Project Runway" and "The Black Swan". I highly recommend this book.

The book is due to be released on November 10, 2015, and here's the link to it:

Review: Something Moore

Something Moore Something Moore by Emma J. King
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

"Something Moore" by Emma J. King is a great beginning to what promises to be a steamy love story. A workaholic attorney is drug out to a local bar and meets up with a billionaire who is clueless on how to flirt, so she instructs him a long the way. He's intrigued by her bluntness and she by his lack of "perfection" and they hook up for a few steamy hours. She realizes that she could really fall for him and runs out while he's sleeping.

I really liked this and it left me wanting way "Moore" of the story, what I hate is this is another story parted out bit by bit. 20 something pages on this one. And yes I want to read the rest of the story.

It's available on Amazon for 99c at this link:

This is a very short read of about 20 pages, and I had gotten it free at the time from Amazon.

Review: SilverMoonLight

SilverMoonLight SilverMoonLight by Marah Woolf
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

"Silver Moon Light" by Marah Woolf is a young adult paranormal story.Emma's mother dies and she goes to live in Scotland with her Uncle and his family, and finds that her life is forever changed. On one of her first days there she and the rest of the family are called down to the beach to assist getting the whales back in the water, while doing this she meets Calum, a young man who stays with an older couple in town. He's so standoffish with her from the beginning, but then nice to her..... it's so many mixed signals it will make a girls head spin. When she finds out his secret, it opens up a world she only thought existed in fairy tales. Knowing these things could put her in danger, is their attraction to each other worth the risks? And can the secrets of the parents destroy them?

I really enjoyed reading about Mermen and hearing the stories and rules about the "shellycoats" in Scotland. Thank you Talk Supe for gifting this paperback book from a contest. I believe the original language for this book is German so the format is a little different than what I'm used to, but makes little to no difference at all to the story. This book one so to learn the whole story we will need to read Book two which is out now, and three which should be out soon.

Review: Watchers of the Night

Watchers of the Night Watchers of the Night by Matthew Keith
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

"Watchers of the Night" by Matthew Keith is an interesting story about people that live a dual life, one in the daytime and one at night after they fall asleep. When Paul started not being able to stay awake when the sun set his parents took him to many specialists with no change, this of course brought on frustration for everyone involved. Paul only awakens when the sunrises, and therefore is late to school everyday which causes him to be sent to counseling. The counselor trying to help, involved an institute that specializes in sleep disorders. Paul has to make some quick decisions about his future so he chooses to go to Astralis and hopefully will get the help he needs to deal with his sleep issues. The things that Paul finds out could put him and everyone he loves in danger!

I really enjoyed reading this story. I think the characters and the choices they make are realistic, and I'm fascinated with the idea of walking in the real world as a "ghost" of sorts. "Watchers of the Night" does end with a cliffhanger, but I liked this story enough that I will definitely be reading book two!
