Review: Hula

Hula Hula by Lisa Shea
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I can't say where I picked up this book, because I have no idea but it is a hauntingly realistic story about two young girls growing up in the 1960's. Their mom is a costume designer who works all the time, and their dad is suffering from severe PTSD. This story is written from the youngest girls perspective and almost reads like a factual account of her youth. Life was very different in the 60's and 70's than it is today and if you want a flashback into what it once was then this might be an interesting place to start.

It appears the author Lisa Shea has not written any more books, but I would be interested in finding out more about her.

Review: Floors

Floors Floors by Patrick Carman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I picked up this book at a thrift store for my boys with no idea about the story inside, and I'm so happy I did! This was a fun wacky adventure for my sons that kept them interested all the way to the end. I had to order the next two books in the series for them too.

After the owner of the Whippet Hotel has been gone for 100 days, Leo and his father the hotel maintenance man start to get worried. When a colored box shows up for Leo in the duck elevator (yes it is only used to transport ducks) his discovery of the hidden floors of the Whippet Hotel starts! Then comes the puzzles to solve and a friendship with Remi the new doorman, and then trying to avoid Ms. Sparks the hotel manager with a mean streak. Very exciting indeed!
Great book for elementary students.

Review: Behind Closed Doors

Behind Closed Doors Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

"Behind Closed Doors" by B.A. Paris is a chilling story about the perfect marriage, well at least from the outside looking in. Perfect loving husband and adoringly perfect wife, but what you find out behind the scenes is pure fear for Grace and Jack just loves it all the more. If it were only Grace to worry about she could handle it, but her autistic little sister is planning to move with them when she graduates. I can only imagine the terror that Jack could inflict on Millie if he got his hands on her!
If you love psychological thrillers, then this book is sure to be a favorite of yours!

Remember the grass isn't always greener on the other side!!!

18+ for situations. The book does have possible triggers for victims of abuse/kidnapping.

"Behind Closed Doors" was provided to me by St. Martin's Press in exchange for my honest review, all thoughts and words are purely my own and no one else's.

This book releases in the US on August 9th!
