Review: FIND ME - Part One

FIND ME - Part One FIND ME - Part One by Michelle Mankin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

"Find Me" by Michelle Mankin is part one in a three part story, which honestly I hate when books are split up into 100 page books instead of a full book in one. But this book not only has a hot cover model, but it has a very hot realistic story line that pulls you in.
After catching her music mogul husband, Charles, in bed with the event planner, Anna decides she needs to get away and has her best friend help her do it. She goes to Claire's brother place out on the islands, to try to get her mind together and decide what to do. What she doesn't expect is to find hope, herself, great sex, and maybe a future with someone who sees her for herself and likes it.
This story unfortunately ends with a cliffhanger, but everything that leads up to it is wonderful! I love Johnny, and I can identify with Anna(belle) and her cheating husband situation.
18+ for adult situations and language

Epsom Salt: 30+ DIY Recipes Of Natural Remedies To Improve Your Health And Body: Epsom Salt: 30+ DIY Recipes Of Natural Remedies To Improve Your Health And Body: by Sarah Kevins
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

"Epsom Salt" is a basic book that explains the health benefits of using epsom salts and a good list of do it yourself recipes such as bath salts and rubs to help lose fat or cellulite incorporating essential oils. At the time I downloaded this book it was a freebie on Amazon, but it is currently available for $2.99 at the below link:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01A...

I haven't tried any of the recipes as of yet, because I need to purchase some essential oils first, but will update my review to add my findings to this after I do try them.

Review: Step Therapy

Step Therapy Step Therapy by Lana Luna
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

"Step Therapy" by Lana Luna is exactly what you would expect from a taboo book..... a smutty read! When a rich girl parties too hard and abuses her step dad's home and her privileges she's sentenced to 6 months of therapy given by her step dad. She tried to entice him all six months but he never took the bait, so on the last day she tries one last time.

18+ for explicit sex and language. The girl is 19, but it's still her step dad so taboo none the less. So 20 pages of smut.

Review: Saving Kenna

Saving Kenna Saving Kenna by D.L. Raver
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

"Saving Kenna" is book 3 in a series that was new to me. I haven't read books one and two so I came in without knowing the characters at all. I was able to follow the story, but yes it would've been better had I read the previous books.
Kenna has always been in love with Sloan, her best friend Irelyn's chauffeur, but he tries to avoid her because she was so young and innocent. Sloan has a secret that could put everyone in danger if known, so he tries to keep them safe by not making any personal connections. Instead of getting close.... he just leaves. After fighting so long to stay away, Sloan and Kenna give in to their passion and what follows could destroy Kenna for life. Sloan feels responsible for it because he left her again alone that night. Is there a chance to heal her brokenness or is she damaged for life?

This is a pretty good story, but it is hard to connect with some of the characters to make it better. There are triggers: rape, abuse, kidnapping, abortion, and feelings of depression and guilt. It does end as a happy ever after though. I got my paperback copy at an author event awhile back.

Review: Guns and Fangs

Guns and Fangs Guns and Fangs by Nicole Zoltack
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Vanessa grew up to be a vampire hunter after her mother was murdered by vampires, and the only good vampire is a dead vampire. Or at least that's what she thought until she met Anton. While on a vampire hunt she almost kills him, but he lets her go instead of returning the favor. Then she's kidnapped and things change quickly from there and so does her vampire views.

I really enjoyed this vampire hunter story and the twist that makes me want to have more of their adventures. "Guns and Fangs" is a novella length, so a quick read when you don't have time for a full blown adventure. A good clean adventure that can be read by adults and teens alike.

Review: Substitute Boyfriend

Substitute Boyfriend Substitute Boyfriend by Jade C. Jamison
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The "Substitute Boyfriend" is about an author who in order to keep her books realistic, she found a sexy bad boy to play out all the scenes she thought up for her books to make sure they were right on point. Professor by day she keeps her secret activities quiet until one night she catches her "Pretend Boyfriend" with someone else, she calls her best friend/fellow professor Roman and in a drunken moment spills her secret identity. Roman offers to fill in as a substitute, but will this ruin their friendship or lead to something so much better in the long run?

Fun story line and steamy as heck sex scenes keep this story interesting.

Review: The Missing Mummy

The Missing Mummy The Missing Mummy by Ron Roy
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

"The Missing Mummy" is book 13 in the A to Z Mysteries series. I read this aloud to my 5 and 8 year old and they loved it! It's a simple mystery for an adult to figure out, but it was intriguing to see my kids work out how it happened and who was the thief! It's the first one I've read to them but would definitely be willing to read more of them.
If you're kids enjoy Magic Treehouse or Scooby Doo Mysteries, then they're sure to like this series too.

We bought this from Scholastic at school, but I've attached the Amazon link for the book below:

Review: Queen Midas In Reverse: A Rock And Roll Fantasy

Queen Midas In Reverse: A Rock And Roll Fantasy Queen Midas In Reverse: A Rock And Roll Fantasy by Diane Rinella
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

After watching her best friends find their "Mr. Right", and wondering why she continues to have the dates from hell, Jacqueline decides to try a dating service. When said "dating service" fails even worse to provide her with more than horrendous first dates, she thinks there's something wrong with her. Will she ever find her "Mr. Not Perfect but Perfect for her"?

I really liked this novella that provided us with a closer view into Jacqueline's life and search for the love of her life. It was a cute romantic comedy in novella length with a splash of "Murphy's Law". You should definitely read the series in order to understand the interactions of the characters and their quirks better.

Review: Sideways Stories from Wayside School

Sideways Stories from Wayside School Sideways Stories from Wayside School by Louis Sachar
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

"Sideways Stories from Wayside School" is a bedtime read aloud book I just finished with my kids. They thought this was a silly and funny book about a wacky school with wacky kids and teachers. I on the other hand found it mildly amusing and far fetched, but appreciated my kids enjoyment of it. That was a prime example of the difference between childhood and adulthood, and the things we find amusing.
5 stars from my kids and 3 stars from me= 4 stars

Review: The Wooden Rose: A symbol of love, a mystery unravelled

The Wooden Rose: A symbol of love, a mystery unravelled The Wooden Rose: A symbol of love, a mystery unravelled by Soraya
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

"The Wooden Rose" By Soraya takes us on a trip from almost 100 years ago to present time, through the lives of one family of Travelers aka Gypsies. It begins with such a happy beautiful love between Rose and Eddie that grew over the years of childhood to adulthood, only to end tragically. Then it takes us to present day with Alina and JJ and a horribly failed marriage. Alina failed to follow her instincts and was blinded by the pretty words and actions of a cheating, lying man. After the death of her parents, she finalizes see his true colors. Alina decides to visit a psychic fair to have a Tarot reading, gets mistaken for someone else and is pulled into the fair. Knowing that she used to read for friends before, she decides to take a chance and read them for others and finds she has a knack for it. She's offered a chance to travel with the fair and she takes it, leaving behind the husband and the life she so desperately needs to escape. This sets her on a journey that leads her to true friends, true love, and her true life path.
I really enjoyed this story a lot. I did struggle with understanding the language of the Travelers in the beginning, but was able to figure it out and enjoy the beauty of it. I love how Soraya brought in touches of the metaphysical, tarot, numerology, runes, dowsing, etc. and gave brief but understandable explanations. These things are woven in a way the seems natural to telling the story.
If you have an interest in things metaphysical then this would be a nice read for you. It also has a nice mystery that is solved through the use of normal channels and tarot, etc. With quite a few splashes of love thrown in and to round it out.

Review: Rekindled Love

Rekindled Love Rekindled Love by Susan Griscom
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

When a married couple plan a Steamboat Hotel for their Anniversary weekend to rekindle their lagging sex life. Things perk up in on the boat when Tom tries to change up the sex between him and Maggie.

"Rekindled Love" is supposed to be a 30 something year old couple, but as I read the story it sounded more like a 50+ year old couple. The story itself is written a lot like the 80's Harlequin romances with the exception of the splash of 50 shades of Grey thrown in. I was tempted to stop reading after the first chapter, but was determined to finish it since it was only approximately 43 pages.

If you enjoy stories that are similar to 80's writing styles then you'll probably enjoy this book. For me it was only an ok read.

Review: A Question of Faith

A Question of Faith A Question of Faith by Nicole Zoltack
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

In "A Question of Faith" Nicole Zoltack has woven a tale that makes you ask yourself the same question that faces young Crystal, is magic against God's rules. Crystal has always been a devout church goer, but when she finds out that her mother had witches help her conceive she begins to question her faith. Crystal is not a witch, but she is something more special than that. When she starts to play with the power that she finds out is coursing through her, dangers surrounds her family, friends, and every thing she holds dear.

I am a big fan of Nicole Zoltack's books and this is no exception. This story explored my own concerns as well. I've always believed in God and the Bible, but I have always felt there was more to the world than the eyes can see. I have also always been attracted to the paranormal, but believed in miracles from God. The Magic Incarnate Series promises to explore those ideals as well as make you question the world as we know it, while providing an entertaining and exciting story line.

"A Question of Faith" releases on February 9th and below is the link for this wonderful book:
