My rating: 4 of 5 stars
"Saving Kenna" is book 3 in a series that was new to me. I haven't read books one and two so I came in without knowing the characters at all. I was able to follow the story, but yes it would've been better had I read the previous books.
Kenna has always been in love with Sloan, her best friend Irelyn's chauffeur, but he tries to avoid her because she was so young and innocent. Sloan has a secret that could put everyone in danger if known, so he tries to keep them safe by not making any personal connections. Instead of getting close.... he just leaves. After fighting so long to stay away, Sloan and Kenna give in to their passion and what follows could destroy Kenna for life. Sloan feels responsible for it because he left her again alone that night. Is there a chance to heal her brokenness or is she damaged for life?
This is a pretty good story, but it is hard to connect with some of the characters to make it better. There are triggers: rape, abuse, kidnapping, abortion, and feelings of depression and guilt. It does end as a happy ever after though. I got my paperback copy at an author event awhile back.
