When EllRay Jakes takes his new class mascot "Zip", the goldfish, home to take care of him over Spring Break his little sister accidentally overfeeds him and he ends up floating in the bowl. When Monday comes around he has to figure out a way to to tell his class that he killed Zip and hopefully they won't hate him. As the week goes on things seem to go from bad to worse, and Ellray continues to think of himself as the "Class Messup". Will he ever be anything more than a kid who constantly makes mistakes?
My kids and I enjoyed reading this book from Scholastic. It was our first EllRay Jakes book and I'm sure it won't be our last. I loved that it ended with a moral that actually fit my kids current situation.
